XCOM 2, the sequel to 2012’s award-winning game XCOM: Enemy Unknown has just been announced by 2K Games and Firaxis. XCOM 2 was previously hinted only a few days ago with the codename “Project Advent“.
This sequel picks up after the events of the first game and takes place in a world now dominated by aliens in which humans play the part of a guerrilla resistance.
XCOM 2 features procedurally generated levels for the first time in the series and puts more emphasis on soldier customisation. The developers also promised to include more types of enemy aliens and playable human soldiers.
Creative director Jake Solomon stated about this game: “The feedback from the passionate XCOM community played an important role in the development of XCOM 2, driving us to push the visual, gameplay and replayability boundaries of what a strategy game can be.” Solomon is a veteran of the franchise that returns after serving as creative director for the previous game.
The game is set for a November 2015 release date as a PC exclusive.
More details are to follow, but you can already watch the release trailer and the first screenshots.
